A Des Moines cancer center will be offering free skin cancer screenings later this month.
The John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines is holding the screenings in 15 minute increments on April 25 in Suite 450 at 1221 Pleasant Street. Appointments will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers. Although melanoma accounts for only four percent of cancer deaths, the number of new cases reported in the United States is on the rise.
The Center wants to get the word out that early detection is the key to successfully beating cancer. Due to the limited number of openings the center encourage anyone with concerns to register as soon as possible.
You can register for the screening here. More screenings are being offered May 16th.
